Access Local Web Server

When using a local web server to work on your WordPress website it would be nice to be able to view the results on other devices, such as mobile phones and tablets.

There are emulators of all sorts, but nothing is quite as good as the real thing. And most folks have at least a mobile phone that is capable of doing so.

However, getting your local web server to be “seen” on other devices connected to the local network seemed to take a bit of “black magic” to happen.

No longer. At least not for Windows users of XAMPP and Laragon, the two local web servers I have tested. In fact, it is super simple!

UPDATE: 08 OCT 2017

Tested with my Mac Mini and it works on MAMP. Note that with the default MAMP settings, you will have to add the port number to the Mac’s IP address like so: 192.168.0.81:8888/svlabs1

The video shows you how to use the IP address of the machine where the local web server is running to be able to access the sites on it using any computer or device that is connected to the same network.

Here is where I found this method on Stack Overflow.
